OEM/ODM PROJECT REVIEW

Steering & Brakes OEM/ODM

Review steering links, rack components, brake discs and pads against exact vehicle and axle requirements. Define fitment dimensions, technical acceptance criteria and protective packaging before approving samples or branding.

What to send for review

Use available product details to describe the part you need. We review each request against the specific product and supplier information available.

Part reference

Send the OE number, part number or drawing you need reviewed.

Application

Include the vehicle make, model, year and installation position when known.

Product details

Provide photos, dimensions or other specifications you have confirmed.

Order requirements

State the required quantity, destination market and any branding or packaging request.

Create separate steering and brake specifications

This family covers components with different mechanical functions. Send the OE reference, vehicle model and year, axle and installation position. Record the exact assembly or individual part required, and provide dimensioned drawings or confirmed sample details wherever possible.

  • Tie rods and rack components: confirm length, thread diameter and pitch, joint geometry, stud taper, mounting arrangement and boot details as applicable.
  • Brake discs: compare diameter, nominal thickness, overall height, center bore, bolt pattern and solid or ventilated construction.
  • Brake pads: confirm shape, dimensions, caliper application, wear-sensor arrangement and any included shims or hardware.

Technical changes need component-specific validation

A logo or carton change is different from a change to steering geometry, joint construction, disc material or pad friction specification. Identify the target performance requirements and acceptance criteria before discussing development. Similar dimensions do not establish the same braking behavior or load capability; keep the application and proposed specification linked.

Sample approval and inspection priorities

Agree the approved reference and the relevant dimensional and functional checks. Steering joints and braking components need different inspection plans. Ask which product-specific material, performance or durability records are available and define the conditions required for the project.

  • For steering parts, review connection dimensions, joint movement, boot condition and the agreed assembly specification.
  • For discs, distinguish nominal new-part thickness from the minimum service thickness and confirm the application-specific dimensions.
  • For pads, verify fit, accessory contents and the agreed friction specification; do not infer performance from surface color.

Protection, labeling and order release

Protect threads, rubber boots, machined faces and friction surfaces during transport. Separate heavy discs from lighter steering or pad components and identify axle, side, set quantity and batch where relevant. Send quantities per reference, destination market, artwork and kit contents. Confirm applicable market requirements and the available product documentation before finalizing the order.
