OEM/ODM PROJECT REVIEW

Suspension & Chassis OEM/ODM

Review control arms, bushings, ball joints and shock absorbers by vehicle platform, axle position and mounting geometry. Define fitment, material and sample acceptance requirements before agreeing branding, packaging and order quantities.

What to send for review

Use available product details to describe the part you need. We review each request against the specific product and supplier information available.

Part reference

Send the OE number, part number or drawing you need reviewed.

Application

Include the vehicle make, model, year and installation position when known.

Product details

Provide photos, dimensions or other specifications you have confirmed.

Order requirements

State the required quantity, destination market and any branding or packaging request.

Define the suspension component and installation position

Control arms, bushings, ball joints and shock absorbers perform different functions and need different review criteria. Start with the OE reference and vehicle platform, then identify front or rear axle, left or right side and the component mounting position. Include photographs showing the mounting points and any brackets.

  • Control arms: compare overall geometry, mounting-hole spacing, bushing dimensions and ball-joint location; identify whether joints and bushings are supplied assembled.
  • Bushings and ball joints: confirm diameters, widths, mounting style, stud taper or thread and protective boot arrangement.
  • Shock absorbers: specify mounting type, body and rod dimensions, extended and compressed lengths, and the damping requirement for the intended application.

What customization needs technical review

Branding and carton changes can be discussed separately from load-bearing design changes. An altered arm geometry, bushing construction, stud material or damping characteristic needs drawings and an agreed validation plan. Provide the intended vehicle duty and the characteristics required by the original application; a visual match is insufficient.

Sample approval and inspection priorities

Use the approved sample to confirm installation interfaces and the agreed product specification. Inspection requirements may include dimensions, joint movement, boot and seal condition, surface finish and the relevant durability or damping checks. Confirm which records are available for the proposed part and how the batch will be identified.

  • Agree critical dimensions and tolerances from the drawing or validated reference.
  • For assembled arms, confirm the included joints, bushings and hardware before approving the bill of materials.
  • Keep the vehicle-specific installation instructions and tightening requirements with the application information. Rubber-bonded bushings require the correct installation position.

Protective packaging and enquiry checklist

Use separators or shaped supports to prevent heavy steel parts rubbing together. Protect threads, joint boots, exposed rods and machined mating surfaces. State whether the order is by individual part, axle pair or kit, with quantities per reference, carton weight limits, labeling language and destination. Confirm the sample revision and kit contents before packing instructions are approved.
